Art and Art is a privately owned fund committed to the potential of art as an instrument for social change. Since 2005, Art&Art has grouped art enthusiasts, scholars and professionals to explore, collect, and promote Latin American Art with special affection for abstraction. Under the leadership of its Founder and Chairman, Juan Carlos Maldonado, Art&Art has always operated conscious of the value of resources, and the responsibility art collectors have with future generations as guardians of our universal heritage.
The Art&Art Collection is the result of years of research and careful selection of pieces that represent the taste of its leaders, always having in mind the contribution of artists to the artistic production of their time, and the importance of the pieces within the artists’ oeuvre. Since its beginnings, the Collection focused on Latin American Abstraction, from 1930s to 1970s, recreating the evolution of geometric abstraction in Venezuela, Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Cuba, and Uruguay, but also included pieces by Modern Masters that have influenced the course of art history, regardless their style or nationality. More recently, the Art&Art LLC Collection turned its attention towards new styles, maintaining emphasis on those artists who influenced the artistic production of their time.
A selection from the Art&Art Collection can be seen at The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum at Florida International University, in the context of the exhibition “Embracing Modernity: Venezuelan Geometric Abstraction,” co-curated by Maria Carlota Perez and Francine Birbragher-Rozencwaig, from October 13th 2010 until January 2nd 2011.
